This qualification develops knowledge and awareness of the causes and spread of infection, including the factors that contribute to the risk of infection within health and social care environments. It explores the importance of effective infection prevention and control measures and how those working in health, adult social care, and children's social care settings can reduce the risk of transmission. The qualification covers good hygiene practices, safe working procedures, and the responsibilities of care workers in maintaining a safe environment for individuals, colleagues, and visitors. It provides essential understanding to support the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care while protecting the health and wellbeing of those receiving support.

Entry requirements

This qualification is suitable for individuals working in, or preparing to work in, health and social care settings. No formal qualifications are required, although an interest in infection prevention and maintaining safe care practices is beneficial.

Assessment
