ECITB Work Ready Programme

Start your career in engineering construction

The ECITB Work Ready Programme helps adults gain the practical skills, qualifications, and confidence needed to begin a career in the engineering construction industry.

This fully funded, 16-week programme combines hands-on training, industry-recognised qualifications, and employability support to help you move into a rewarding role within the sector.

Designed to address skills shortages across engineering construction, Work Ready provides a direct pathway into employment for people looking to start a new career, return to work, or develop new skills.

Qualifications and training

During the programme, learners develop essential engineering and workplace skills, including:

  • Engineering vocational training
  • Level 1 Welding Award
  • CCNSG Safety Passport
  • Manual handling
  • Handheld and abrasive wheels training
  • Working at height
  • Confined spaces awareness
  • Safe use of hand and power tools
  • ECITB Digital Passport skills

A pathway into employment

Work Ready is designed to support learners beyond the classroom. Through industry links, careers support, and employer engagement, successful participants are given the opportunity to progress into employment within engineering construction.

Learners who meet programme requirements are guaranteed a job interview, with some employers offering conditional employment opportunities at the start of the programme.
