Start or progress your career in health and social care with this qualification, designed for individuals working in an adult care setting who want to develop their skills, knowledge, and confidence.

To apply, you must be working within the health and social care sector and be able to demonstrate your ability to apply your learning in a practical care environment. Applicants should be aged 19 or over.

This course will support you in developing the skills needed to provide high-quality, person-centred care. You will explore key areas including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional wellbeing, assisting with everyday living needs, promoting independence, and understanding essential health and social care practices and procedures.

By completing this qualification, you will enhance your professional development and gain the skills needed to make a positive impact on the lives of the individuals you support.

Course Information


You need to be working in an adult care worker role with adults in a health and social care setting. You also need to possess a reasonable level of literacy and numeracy skills.


This qualification will be assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation in the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.


You can progress into employment in residential or nursing home, domiciliary care, day centres or some clinical healthcare settings within job roles.


During this qualification, you will develop the knowledge and practical skills required to provide effective, compassionate, and person-centred care. You will study a range of topics including supporting individuals with their physical and emotional wellbeing, promoting independence, communication, safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety, and professional care practices. The course will also cover how to support individuals with their daily living needs, understand their personal preferences, and provide care that respects their dignity, choices, and rights.
