Carpenters: Using Skill and Precision to Craft Building Structures and Fixtures

As a carpenter or joiner, you'll work with wood-based materials to craft and install essential building components. Course Information

GCSE grade 1-3 or Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Maths

If you do not possess these grades, you will need to achieve this level and also take the test for Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths prior to taking the End Point Assessment.

End Point Assessment and coursework/assignments throughout

Progression Opportunities:

  • Level 3 Craft Carpentry Apprenticeship Standard
  • Site supervisor: Overseeing carpentry work on a construction site, managing teams and ensuring quality standards.
  • Project manager: Taking full responsibility for a carpentry project, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating with other trades.
  • Team leader: Leading a smaller carpentry crew on specific tasks.

Course Content - Choose Your Pathway:

  • Site Carpenter: On-site, you'll install everything from doors and stairs to roof structures, making the vision a reality for homes and commercial spaces.
  • Architectural Joiner: Work behind the scenes in a workshop, creating stunning architectural elements like custom doors, windows, and staircases that are both functional and beautiful.
