The hairdressing industry is fast-paced and continually evolving, with new techniques, trends and styles influenced by fashion, social media, celebrities and industry professionals. This course is designed to equip you with the practical skills, technical knowledge and confidence needed to begin a successful career in this creative and rewarding sector.
You will be taught by highly experienced tutors with extensive industry expertise who will support you in developing your professional skills throughout the course. You will learn a wide range of techniques, including cutting, colouring, lightening, styling and finishing hair, while working with high-quality vegan products that reflect current industry practices.
Practical experience is at the heart of the course. You will train in our professional on-site salon, East Academy of Hair and Beauty, where you will work with members of the public in a realistic salon environment. This enables you to build confidence, develop your customer service skills and gain valuable experience before progressing into employment. We have strong partnerships with local salons and industry employers, giving you access to work experience opportunities in a variety of professional settings. Whether in an independent salon or a larger business, these placements allow you to apply your skills, gain industry insight and prepare for the world of work.
To enhance your learning, you will have opportunities to attend Salon International in London, participate in industry masterclasses with leading brands such as NXT and HOP, and take part in careers events. You can also complete the Eco Salon online course, helping you understand sustainable working practices and the importance of environmental responsibility within the hair and beauty industry.
Throughout your studies, you will be encouraged to showcase your creativity by entering in-house and national competitions. Our students regularly compete in prestigious events, including the bridal and colour categories of the WorldSkills Competition, where learners have been selected as finalists for the past four consecutive years. These experiences help build confidence, develop professional portfolios and demonstrate the high standard of training you will receive.
