If you're passionate about creating the visual style and creative direction of games, this course will help you develop the artistic and design skills needed to bring your ideas to life.
Our Level 3 Game Design course combines creative practice with game design principles, giving you the opportunity to explore how visual design supports gameplay, storytelling and player experience. You'll learn how to create characters, environments and game assets that do more than look impressive — they communicate ideas, guide players and help build immersive game worlds.
Throughout the course, you'll work on a range of practical projects that develop your creativity, technical ability and problem-solving skills. You'll learn to think like both an artist and a designer, creating visually engaging work that responds to real design briefs and industry-inspired challenges.
In your second year, you'll have the opportunity to refine your creative identity and focus on the areas that interest you most. Through specialist projects, workshops and independent study, you'll develop advanced skills, build confidence in your chosen discipline and create a professional portfolio that reflects your ambitions.
By the end of the programme, you'll have a strong portfolio showcasing your creative and technical abilities, preparing you for progression to university, higher-level apprenticeships or employment within the UK's growing games and creative industries.
