This qualification is ideal for anyone looking to develop their counselling skills and learn how they can be applied in both professional and personal settings. It is suitable for learners who want to build their confidence in supporting others, enhance their communication skills, or use counselling skills within their current role. The course also provides a valuable foundation for those wishing to progress onto further qualifications or complement other areas of study, such as Access to Counselling, health and social care, children's care, learning and development, or voluntary and community work.

This course is suitable for learners aged 18 and over and requires just 2 hours of study per week, making it a flexible option for those looking to develop new skills alongside existing commitments.

Course Information


To study this course you will need to have completed the Level 1 Counselling course or be able to write at Level 2 level in English


A portfolio of evidence will be completed during the course which may contain short written assignments, presentations, group listening activities and discussions.


After completing the course, you may be able to progress onto Access to Counselling at Level 3. In order to progress to this course, you will require at least one GCSE at grade 4/C or above.


On this course, you will study the basics of counselling and learn how counselling skills can be used to support others. You will develop your understanding of communication, active listening, empathy, and building supportive relationships. You will also explore counselling approaches and techniques while gaining confidence in applying these skills in different situations. This course will provide a foundation for further study and a future career in counselling.
