You will explore the role of a counsellor, the importance of effective communication, active listening, empathy, and building positive, supportive relationships. The course will introduce you to key counselling approaches and techniques, helping you understand how to respond appropriately to the thoughts, feelings, and experiences of others.

You will develop your confidence in using basic counselling skills in a range of situations, whether supporting adults, children, or individuals facing personal challenges. Throughout the course, you will complete two units and create a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your understanding and ability to apply counselling skills. This will provide you with a valuable introduction to the subject and a strong foundation for progressing onto further study, such as an Access to Counselling course or other counselling qualifications.
