This course is £369.50, however, fee remission may be available subject to your personal circumstances and residency requirements (for non UK Nationals).

This course is designed for students who work with, support, or regularly interact with individuals with learning disabilities as part of their role. It is suitable for those involved in a variety of settings, including the local community, volunteering opportunities, education, employment support services, and leisure activities.

Throughout the course, you will develop an understanding of what it means to have a learning disability, explore the different types of support available, learn about relevant legislation, and develop effective communication strategies to help promote inclusion, independence, and positive outcomes for individuals.

Alongside the structured lessons, you will benefit from individual tutorials and dedicated careers advice sessions throughout the course. These sessions will provide guidance, support your personal development, and help you explore future education, training, and employment opportunities.

On successful completion of the course, you will have the opportunity to progress onto a range of further qualifications at Level 2 or above, supporting your continued learning and career development.

Course Information


A sufficient understanding of maths and English Language is needed to cope with the demands of the course. All students will undertake diagnostic assessment to assess these skills during the course interview or induction process and you will be required to demonstrate that you can work at Level 1.


Formative assessment will take place throughout the course with a final portfolio of evidence produced at the end. There are no examinations on this course.

You will explore what it means to have a learning disability, the support available, relevant legislation, and effective communication methods. The course will help you develop an understanding of person-centred approaches and how to support individuals with learning disabilities across a range of settings, including education, community, employment, and leisure environments.
