Our Painting and Decorating course is designed for aspiring decorators who want to develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and industry experience needed for a successful career within the construction and decorating sectors. Throughout the course, you will develop your practical abilities in our well-equipped, professionally maintained workshops, completing industry-relevant tasks and projects designed to build your skills. You will gain experience in essential decorating techniques, including surface preparation, paint application using brush and roller methods, wallpapering, decorative finishes and colour theory. You will also explore spraying techniques and develop an understanding of the health and safety practices required when working in the industry.
As your studies progress, you will broaden your knowledge of the wider construction environment by exploring key building principles and developing an understanding of how decorating fits within the wider trade sector. Work experience is strongly encouraged, giving you the opportunity to apply your skills in a professional setting, gain valuable industry insight and build confidence in the workplace.
