Please note, this course is only accepting applications from learners aged 16 - 18, as well as those up to the age of 25 who hold a current EHCP.

Develop the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to operate, maintain and improve modern engineering systems. This pathway combines hands-on training with classroom learning, giving you a strong foundation in both mechanical and electrical engineering.

You'll train in our industry-standard workshops and £11.3 million Energy Skills Centre at the Lowestoft campus, using professional equipment including HAAS CNC machines. You may also have the opportunity to visit major engineering sites such as Bacton Gas Terminal and Sizewell Nuclear Power Station.

Our strong links with local employers provide opportunities for work experience, industry projects, internships and apprenticeships, helping you build the skills and experience employers are looking for. You can also enhance your personal development by working towards the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

Course Information


Level 2: Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths. Level 3: GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and grade 3 or above in English.


Assessment is varied throughout the course and is designed to develop both your practical and academic knowledge. You will be assessed through practical assessments, online examinations, written assignments and fault-finding tasks.


You can progress through our Engineering courses before moving to an apprenticeship, university or employment.


You will study a range of units including health and safety, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering, science and maths.
