This qualification is designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental wellbeing, providing learners with a greater awareness of the factors that influence mental health throughout life. It offers a comprehensive overview of a range of mental health conditions, including their causes, symptoms, and the effects they can have on individuals, families, communities, and wider society.

The course explores the importance of promoting positive mental wellbeing, reducing stigma, and developing an understanding of the experiences of those living with mental health challenges. Learners will gain insight into the support available, the importance of early recognition, and the role that effective communication, empathy, and understanding play in supporting individuals with their mental health.

Course Information


There are no specific learning requirements. You will require appropriate level of literacy and willingness to complete the assessment criteria.


This is a knowledge-only qualification assessed through a portfolio of evidence, covering 10 units of work that is to be completed in your own time and requires some further reading.


This qualification supports progression to further study in health and social care and enhances employment opportunities. You may progress to Level 3 qualifications or other relevant training programmes.
