Please note, this course is only accepting applications from learners aged 16 - 18, as well as those up to the age of 25 who hold a current EHCP.

Develop the technical knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours needed for a career in engineering. This pathway combines mechanical and electrical engineering, giving you hands-on experience designing, manufacturing and assembling engineering products using industry-standard equipment, including HAAS CNC machines.

Based in our industry-standard workshops and £11.3 million Energy Skills Centre at our Lowestoft campus, you'll learn through practical sessions, classroom-based engineering and maths, employer visits and work experience opportunities. With strong links to local engineering employers, you'll have the chance to gain valuable industry experience and explore apprenticeship and career pathways. You may also have the opportunity to visit sites such as Bacton Gas Terminal and Sizewell Nuclear Power Station and complete the Duke of Edinburgh's Award to further enhance your CV.

Course Information


Level 2: Four GCSEs at grade 3 or above, including English and Maths. Level 3: GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths and grade 3 or above in English.


Assessment is varied throughout the course and is designed to develop both your practical skills and academic knowledge. You will be assessed through practical assessments, online multiple-choice exams and written assignments.


You can progress through our Engineering courses before moving to an apprenticeship, university or employment.


You will study a range of units including health and safety, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering, science and maths.
