Are you interested in developing your understanding of how to support and help others effectively? Would you like to learn more about the causes of stress, how it can be managed, and ways to prevent or reduce its impact? These courses will also help you develop greater awareness of different mental health conditions and the importance of wellbeing.

The following courses are available:

  • Level 1 Award in Stress Awareness - develop an understanding of the causes of stress, its effects, and ways to manage and reduce stress levels.
  • Level 2 Award in Helping Skills - explore the skills and approaches needed to provide effective support and help to others.
  • Level 2 Certificate in Mental Health Awareness - gain knowledge of different mental health conditions, their impact, and the importance of promoting positive mental wellbeing.

All courses are delivered online, offering flexible learning to fit around your commitments, and there are no exams. You can choose to complete all three courses or select the individual course that best suits your interests and goals.

Course Information


The course will use Microsoft Teams, students will need a camera/mic facility.


There will be workbooks to complete and can be submitted digitally OR can pick up and drop off hard copies at either of our campuses.


You can prepare to progress into a role in which helping skills are used and be ready to take on qualifications at a higher level, (including our Foundation degree in Social Welfare, Advice & Guidance or the Foundation Degree in Additional Support Needs) by taking one or more of the above qualifications.


The modules within these courses are designed to build your knowledge and understanding of key areas relating to stress, mental health, and supporting others. You will explore topics such as recognising the causes and effects of stress, developing effective helping skills, understanding different mental health conditions, and learning how to promote positive wellbeing. Each module provides practical knowledge and skills that can be applied in everyday life, the workplace, or when supporting others in a range of settings.
