Please note, this course is only accepting applications from learners aged 16 - 18, as well as those up to the age of 25 who hold a current EHCP.

Learn how to measure, monitor and control industrial processes so they operate safely, efficiently and reliably. This pathway develops the mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours needed for a career in today's engineering industry.

You'll train in our industry-standard workshops and £11.3 million Energy Skills Centre at our Lowestoft campus, using professional equipment including HAAS CNC machines. You'll also have opportunities to visit sites such as Bacton Gas Terminal and Sizewell Nuclear Power Station.

With strong links to local employers, you could gain valuable work experience through industry projects, paid internships or pre-apprenticeship work trials, helping prepare you for apprenticeships or employment. You may also have the opportunity to complete the Duke of Edinburgh's Award to further develop the skills employers value.

Course Information


You will need to have achieved at least a GCSE grade 4 or above in Maths, and a grade 3 or above in English.


Assessment is varied throughout the course and is designed to develop both your practical and academic knowledge. You will be assessed through advanced practical projects, fault-finding tasks, online examinations and written assignments.


You can progress through our Engineering courses before moving to an apprenticeship, university or employment.


You will study a range of units including health and safety, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering, science and maths.
