This course is suitable for learners of all ages and abilities who want to develop their digital skills for everyday life and the workplace. You can learn using a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet while gaining the essential skills needed to confidently use digital technology.

On successful completion, you will achieve an Essential Digital Skills (Gateway) qualification at Entry Level 3 or Level 1. The course covers a range of topics, including digital communication through email, social media, video calls, and online platforms; finding and using information safely online; creating, editing, and managing documents; completing online transactions; and using digital tools such as spreadsheets to solve problems and analyse information.

The course will be delivered at either Lowestoft campus or Great Yarmouth campus, with details confirmed before the start date. Please contact us to find out about upcoming course dates.

Course Information


No formal entry requirements are needed, but it is essential that all learners have some knowledge of using their chosen device.

You will also need to attend an induction and assessment session. From the results of your initial assessment we will be able to decide the level of qualification that you will study.


A portfolio of evidence will be completed during the course


You will be able to progress through from Entry Level 3 up to Level 1 Digital Skills. You will improve your self-confidence and achieve an excellent preparation for many other courses and employment of your choice.


On this course, you will study essential digital skills needed for everyday life and the workplace. You will learn how to communicate online, use the internet safely, create and manage documents, complete online transactions, and use digital tools such as spreadsheets. The course will help you build confidence in using technology and develop skills that are valuable for both personal and professional situations.
