This course is designed for ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) students who want to improve their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Achieving a Grade C/Level 4 or above in English is highly valued by employers, and this course will help you prepare for further study and future employment opportunities.
During the course, you will develop your reading skills by learning how to understand and analyse both fiction and non-fiction texts, identify language techniques used for effect, and evaluate how the way we speak, text, and write changes over time.
You will improve your writing skills by creating fiction and non-fiction texts for different purposes and audiences. You will also develop your essay-writing skills and improve your spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
As part of the non-examination assessment for spoken language, you will practise presenting, responding to questions and feedback, and using Standard English confidently.
By completing this course, you will not only gain a recognised English qualification but also improve your ability to write CVs and covering letters. You will learn how to use language effectively for different situations, helping you communicate confidently with employers and improve your future career opportunities.
