Our Carpentry course is designed to prepare you for a successful career in the construction industry, developing both your practical skills and your understanding of how building sites operate. You'll gain experience in specialist areas such as traditional hand-cut roofing, while also developing an insight into site management and progression routes within the trade.

Much of your learning will take place in our fully equipped, industry-standard carpentry workshops, where you will complete a range of practical projects designed to build your confidence, accuracy and craftsmanship.

On the Bench Joinery pathway, you will develop a strong foundation in workshop-based skills. You will study key topics including health and safety, building methods, and construction technology, while learning how to accurately set out, manufacture and finish a variety of high-quality joinery products such as doors, windows, stairs, and other bespoke timber components.

The Site Carpentry pathway focuses on the skills needed for on-site installation and construction. You will develop practical expertise in fitting doors, windows, staircases and other structural elements, gaining the skills required to work effectively on live construction sites. Your tutors will help guide you towards the most suitable pathway during your interview.

As you progress, you will have the opportunity to develop more advanced trade and supervisory skills, preparing you for higher-level study or employment in the industry. This may include complex projects such as traditional hand-cut roofing, curved joinery, double doors, and detailed staircase construction including winders and turns.

Whether you are aiming to become a skilled craftsperson, site supervisor, or progress into project management, this course provides a strong foundation for a wide range of careers in carpentry and construction.
