This course is designed to prepare you for employment as a bricklayer by combining practical workshop training with the essential theory that underpins the trade. Working in industry-standard facilities, you'll develop the skills employers are looking for while gaining an understanding of how construction projects operate on site.
Throughout the course, you'll complete a series of practical assignments, allowing you to demonstrate and refine key bricklaying techniques to industry standards. Alongside your practical training, you'll study the principles of construction, including health and safety, building methods, materials, and the technical knowledge required to work effectively and safely within the industry.
In your second year, you'll complete a minimum of 40 hours of industry work experience, giving you valuable insight into life on a real construction site. We work closely with a range of local employers to help students secure meaningful placements that develop workplace skills, build confidence and enhance future employment opportunities.
You'll also benefit from opportunities beyond the classroom. Previous students have taken part in exclusive site visits and practical masterclasses with leading construction companies including Lovell and Morgan Sindall, gaining first-hand experience of live building projects, learning from industry professionals and putting their bricklaying skills into practice.
