This course is £369.50, however, fee remission may be available subject to your personal circumstances and residency requirements (for non UK Nationals).

This course is designed for learners who support or interact with individuals with learning disabilities through their work, volunteering, or community roles. It explores the meaning of learning disabilities, available support services, relevant legislation, and effective communication approaches.

Alongside the taught sessions, learners will receive individual tutorials and careers guidance to support their development. On completion, learners can progress to a range of Level 2 qualifications or further study opportunities.

Course Information


A sufficient understanding of maths and English Language is needed to cope with the demands of the course. All students will undertake diagnostic assessment to assess these skills during the course interview or induction process and you will be required to demonstrate that you can work at Level 1.


Formative assessment will take place throughout the course with a final portfolio of evidence produced at the end. There are no examinations on this course.

You will develop an understanding of learning disabilities, including how they affect individuals and the support available to promote independence and wellbeing. The course will cover relevant legislation, effective communication techniques, and ways to provide appropriate support in different settings, including education, employment, volunteering, and community environments.
